Star Sailors League

Hired as Press Officer / Writer for the Star Sailors League during the SEA Games 2025 and the SSL Gold Cup Asian Qualifiers in Thailand, I was responsible for editorial production, press communications, and sustainability storytelling across multiple platforms. My role included live race coverage, press releases, newsletters, interviews, and publishing across a newly launched central website as well as newly established local team sites. The objective was to deliver accurate, timely, and engaging coverage of elite sailing to a global audience.

During the SEA Games – broadcast live to millions across Asia – I covered racing from the official drone boat, working alongside the drone team while taking live notes on starts, tactical decisions, and race developments. Due to heightened security, including the participation of Her Majesty Queen Suthida sailing with SSL Team Thailand, special permissions were required for on-water media access.

Daily deliverables included:
• Five short news alerts per day (distributed to local team platforms and translated)
• One full English press release per racing day
• Daily newsletters
• Live dock interviews post-racing
• Sustainability Communications

Between the two events, I led storytelling around environmental and social sustainability initiatives. Activities included a beach clean-up at Ocean Marina Jomtien involving SSL sailors, Amara Watersports, and 60 local children. In 30 minutes, 144 kg of marine debris was collected, sorted, and sent for recycling. I documented the initiative through written content, interviews, still imagery, and social media material.

Measured impact (Dec 14–22):
• 121.05 kg operational waste recorded
• 70% waste diversion rate (recycling and composting)
• 144 kg marine debris removed
• 19 tonnes CO₂ offset
• 100 trees planted
• 100% elimination of plastic bottles in the athlete village

The Asian Qualifiers introduced a new two-group race format, requiring adjusted editorial pacing and workflow. Coverage was conducted from shore via live feeds, enabling rapid turnaround of news alerts and coordinated dock interviews. Sailors were interviewed in both English and their native languages to ensure accuracy across international press materials.

Over ten days, I produced:
• 54 written pieces (articles, newsletters, and news alerts)
• Daily dock interviews
• Sustainability documentation and visual support
• Multi-platform publishing and translation coordination

Between December 14-22, the events reached:
• +5M TV audience
• 215.1k live YouTube views
• 27h 16m of live broadcast
• 309 content pieces published
• 54 written articles and news alerts authored by me during the event
• 37.3k social media engagements
