HANDARBETETS VÄNNER / FRIENDS OF HANDICRAFT

One of Europe’s oldest and most distinguished handicraft and textile institutions has gotten a new identity!

FoH / HV was founded on the initiative of Sophie Adlersparre in 1874. Its founding aims were to enhance Swedish textile handicraft. Since then, the association has taken the lead in a number of important developments such as female entrepreneurship and emancipation, innovatory textile design and advanced technical handicraft. Today, the institution operates an atelier, education, a gallery, a boutique and outreaching activities within textile craft.

In time for celebrating the 135-year-jubilee of the textile craft education, I had the great honor to redesign the institution’s identity. My aim and brief was to develop a contemporary, yet timeless identity with a strong connection to the institution’s activity. The project included a new logotype with a thorough graphic standards manual, detailed patterns and graphic elements that created a toolbox which could be easily applied across all brand touch points from products, stationaries, packaging, advertising, online appearance and physical environments.
